    Jharkhand man, accused of murdering wife, beaten to death by angry villagers

    A man, accused of murdering his wife, was beaten to death by villagers on Wednesday in Jharkhand’s Lukaia village in Giridih district. In a shocking sequence of events late June 25 night, a husband brutally stabbed his wife to death, following which he was beaten to death by an enraged mob of her family members and local villagers.

    The incident unfolded under the jurisdiction of Muffasil police station. According to police reports, Chotelal Hansda, a resident of a nearby village, had been married to Meena Hansda of Lukaia for eight years.

    On the night of the incident, Meena was staying at her parental home when Chotelal arrived. A heated domestic dispute erupted between the couple inside the house, escalating to a tragic climax when Chotelal attacked Meena with a knife, fatally wounding her.

    As news of the murder spread, Meena’s family and villagers, consumed by anger, apprehended Chotelal as he attempted to flee. The mob beat him severely in fit of rage, resulting in his death on the spot.

    SDPO Jitbahan Oraon and Mufassil police station officer-in-charge Shyam Kishore Mahto arrived at the scene with a team, taking both bodies into custody.

    The bodies have been sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination as the police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the double murder.
