Diljit Dosanjh and the entire team of his upcoming film, Sardaar Ji 3, have found themselves in hot water after the trailer was launched. From the trailer, people got to know that Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir, has been retained in the film despite the India-Pak tension. Due to this casting choice, the film team, especially Diljit, have been facing massive backlash as there has been a ban on Pakistani artists from working in India, after the attack on Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 26 civilians lost their lives. Amid this controversy and boycott calls for the film, producer, Gunbir Singh Sidhu has spoken up on the issue.

Producer of Sardaar Ji 3 says that situation was normal between the two countries when the shooting was started

Producer, Gunbir Singh Sidhu, in an interview with NDTV, said that the film was shot between February and March of 2025, and that time the situation between the two countries was normal. He stated that the film was shot overseas, specifically in the UK, and there were no restrictions at the time. He reiterated that the atmosphere was normal when Sardaar Ji 3 was shot and Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir was chosen for the role. The producer said:

“Those who are actively involved in the film industry and are aware of day-to-day activities, know that this film was shot in February-March 2025 itself. We shot it in the UK. There was no such atmosphere at that time, work was going on normally between the two countries. The whole atmosphere was normal. There was no restriction from the Government of India or any other institution.”

The team decided not to release Sardaar Ji 3 in India says, producer

Gunbir Singh Sidhu stated that after the Pahalgam attack, they decided not to release the film in India. The makers of the film were also hurt by the tragic event and did not want to hurt the sentiments of the people either. Since their major investment is from overseas, Sardaar Ji 3 will only be released for the overseas audience. The producer also revealed that they did not put the trailer of the film on YouTube India, nor did they engage in any kind of promotional activities. Gunbir said about the film:

“When we came to know about this attack, we decided that we would not release the film India, because we did not want to hurt the sentiments of our people in any way. We too were hurt by this incident. Keeping this honour in mind, we decided that the film will be released only overseas because our major investment is there. There was no restriction from any government overseas, so it was decided to release there. We did not put the trailer on YouTube in India, nor did we do any kind of promotional activities.”

Producer of Sardaar Ji 3 revealed the loss the film will incur

Gunbir Singh Sidhu stated that for his previous film, Jatt and Juliet 3, the team earned 40% of the revenue from India and the rest from overseas. It was also the first Punjabi film to reach the Rs. 100 crore milestone at the worldwide box office. So taking these estimates into account, the producer has said that the film has already incurred 40% loss in revenue. The producer also stated that he does not support Pakistani artists and will not work with them in the future.

What are your thoughts on producer of Sardaar Ji 3 stating that the film will lose nearly half its revenue?
