Red-robed ascetics, barefoot pilgrims, and wide-eyed spiritual tourists—many arriving after days of travel—added to the growing spiritual momentum that marks this annual festival of fertility and cosmic rhythms. The temple, believed to mark the spot where Goddess Sati’s womb fell, is enveloped in chants, incense smoke, and monsoon winds as people wait in reverence for the reopening day on June 26.

On the fourth day of the mela, rituals outside the sanctum intensified. Throughout the four days, several akhadas (makeshift sadhu camps) have become sites of discourse, meditation, and spiritual exchange. Despite the intermittent rains and muddy grounds, the crowd remained unwavering. Assam government authorities have reinforced their services: continuous water and food supply, mobile medical stations, sanitation units, and crowd management teams remain active around the clock.
