Joe Marinelli, best known for his roles in General Hospital and Santa Barbara, died on June 22, 2025, at age 68 after battling stomach cancer. His wife, Jean Marinelli, and his agent, Julie Smith, confirmed the news on Tuesday.
Joe Marinelli, who rose to fame with his roles in NBC’s ‘Santa Barbara’ and ABC’s ‘General Hospital’, died in Burbank, California, reported The Hollywood Reporter. Smith said that the actor had been living with throat and stomach cancer for a few years.
In a statement to THR, his ‘Morning Show’ co-star, Mark Duplass, said, “I really loved him and what he stood for. We didn’t spend 10,000 hours together, but we were spiritually aligned in many ways.”
A seasoned actor, he gained acclaim for playing Bunny Tagliatti on ‘Santa Barbara’ and mobster Joseph Sorel on ‘General Hospital’.
Marinelli appeared in over 50 TV and film projects, including ‘ER’, ‘Sideways’, and ‘The Morning Show’, earning an SAG Award nomination. Known for his talent and warmth, he was admired by peers and fans alike.
Joe Marinelli was last seen on ‘The Morning Show’. He is survived by his wife and sons, Vincent and David.
