The Bengaluru City Police, in collaboration with the Karnataka State Police, will hold a large-scale anti-drug awareness drive on June 26 at the Kanteerava Stadium. The initiative is part of a state-wide campaign directed by the Director General and Inspector General of Police to strengthen the fight against drug abuse.
Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar said that the event will be inaugurated by Home Minister G Parameshwara and will witness the participation of over 6,000 college students. Several non-governmental organisations will also join the programme, which will feature student-led presentations on anti-drug initiatives carried out within their institutions.
As part of the campaign, drugs seized in previous operations will be destroyed at the Dabaspete facility. The destruction process will be live-streamed at the stadium for the public to witness. Police departments from across the state will also present detailed accounts of their efforts in tackling drug trafficking and related crimes.
Officials stated that the campaign is intended to generate greater public engagement and encourage citizens to actively support law enforcement in curbing the spread of narcotics.
