Heavy monsoon rains have severely impacted life across several districts in Uttarakhand, triggering landslides, blocking roads, and disrupting both local travel and pilgrimage routes.

In Bageshwar, the Kapkot region is among the worst hit. Over 20 roads, including the main Bageshwar-Kapkot motor road, have been blocked by debris after continuous rainfall. Though some roads were cleared on Monday, renewed rainfall on Tuesday led to fresh blockages. JCB machines are on standby for quick relief operations.

In Uttarkashi, landslides near the 9 Kanchi area have forced a temporary suspension of the Yamunotri Yatra. Pilgrims have been halted at Janaki Chatti until rescue and clearing operations are complete.

Chamoli district has also been cut off in parts, with a massive landslide on the Nandprayag–Nandanagar road severing contact with several villages. While the rain has paused, unstable conditions persist.

Mussoorie has seen heavy rainfall since Monday night, blanketing the town in fog and lowering temperatures. Though tourists are enjoying the cooler weather, persistent rain and debris have raised safety concerns.

Meanwhile, weather conditions are better in Kedarnath and Rudraprayag, allowing devotees to visit normally. Rishikesh has seen only light drizzle and fog, bringing some respite from the heat.

Vikasnagar, Pauri, and Tehri are experiencing light rain and fog. Tehri currently has bright sunshine but high humidity, with rain expected by evening. Uttarkashi, though clear, remains on alert after Monday’s landslide.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert from June 24 to 26, forecasting intense rainfall across several districts including Dehradun, Nainital, Tehri, Haridwar, Rudraprayag, and others. Thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of up to 50 km per hour are expected.

The Disaster Management Department has advised all districts to stay vigilant and has instructed local administrations to be prepared for any emergency situation.
