Masta Killa is swingin’ through your town like your neighborhood Spider-Man with a message to share: Go vegan. The Wu-Tang Clan member has partnered with PETA for a new campaign to spread the word about the plant-based diet, which is close to his heart.

“Health is truly wealth. Eating righteous with the Balance of exercise is the key to the longevity of living,” the MC tells Billboard, while subtly referencing his new album, which dropped on May 30. “PETA has always been a positive advocate for a healthy way of living and the ethical treatment of animals and I love that.”

In a new video with the animal rights non-profit group, the rapper shares that he’s been following a vegan diet for more than 20 years, and notes that the Clan’s Mathematics and RZA also follow plant-based diets.

“You take care of your body, your body will take care of you,” Masta Killa says in the campaign video shared with Billboard. “Your body is a living organism, right? So you’re supposed it feed it life — plants, vegetables, fruits. All of those things are still living, so you’re putting life into life!”

“Everywhere I go, there’s a good vegan meal somewhere, and it’s more healthy. There’s really no excuse!” he adds. “I think you can do it. I’m living proof that you can.”

RZA has also been open about his vegan diet. The Wu-Tang Clan frontman told GQ in a 2021 that he went vegetarian in the ’90s, first by giving up red meat, followed by poultry and fish. In 2000, he stopped eating dairy and eggs, and became vegan. “I think it’s important for us all to be aware of the benefits of a plant-based diet. It’s actually better for the planet. I honestly think that you are what you eat. If I’m making a piece of meat, pumped up with steroids from an animal — I’m ingesting his blood. How is that good for me?”

Masta Killa joins a long list of stars who have partnered with PETA to promote kindness to animals and plant-based diets. Among them are Joan Jett, Bryan Adams and Paul McCartney.

The Wu-Tang Clan is currently on its Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber tour, celebrating the iconic hip-hop group’s vast catalogue, including performances of deep cuts and tracks that had not previously been performed live. The trek kicked off June 6, and will wrap July 18 in Philadelphia.
