Jaipur: A day after a 28-year-old man allegedly died by suicide in Sadar police station, Jaipur police on Sunday transferred six police officials, including the SHO, to police lines pending a judicial inquiry.Police said the deceased, Manish Pandey, an inveterate alcoholic from UP living on a rented house in Mansarovar, was allegedly involved in several incidents of two-wheeler theft to sustain his addiction.On Saturday afternoon, locals allegedly caught him red-handed while attempting to steal a bike in Sadar area. They thrashed him and later handed him over to police. Since he was in an inebriated state, he was made to sit near a room at the police station, police said.Around 5 pm, when police were reportedly engaged in other duties, Pandey used the opportunity to hang himself with a piece of cloth. Pandey’s family and locals protested outside SMS Hospital mortuary demanding strict action.
