The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has inducted 586 students into its full-time postgraduate programmes for the academic years 2025-2027. In a notable achievement, the institute has reported 51% gender diversity across its three MBA offerings, marking the fourth time in a decade that it has admitted more women than men in its full-time MBA cohort.
The flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP) 2025–27 batch, also known as PGP-29, includes 489 students, 55% of whom are women. This number stands out against the 36% share of women among CAT 2024 applicants nationally.
Apart from the PGP, the institute also welcomed new batches for two specialised programmes-the Post Graduate Programme in Finance (PGP-Fin) and the Post Graduate Programme in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM)-as well as the 19th batch of doctoral candidates under the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM).
IIMK’s PGP-29 cohort reflects a broad academic mix. Around 53% of students come from non-engineering backgrounds, continuing the trend of academic diversity seen in recent years.
The batch also shows wide regional representation, with students from Delhi, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh making up 35% of the total. Kerala, the home state of the institute, is represented by 23 students.
Additionally, the batch includes seven international students from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the UAE.
The PGP-Fin 06 batch comprises 49 students, equally split between engineering and non-engineering backgrounds. The average age of this group is 25.43 years, and they bring an average work experience of 2.51 years.
The PGP-LSM 06 batch has 48 students, of whom 60% are women. An overwhelming 96% of them come from non-engineering fields, highlighting a growing interest in interdisciplinary learning within business education.
The institute also reported the largest intake in the history of its doctoral-level FPM programme, with 31 scholars joining the 2025 batch.
These candidates will pursue research in various fields of management and allied disciplines.
The formal induction was followed by a week-long orientation that included sessions with industry leaders, faculty members, government officials, and IIMK alumni. Regular classes for the new MBA cohorts are scheduled to begin on June 30.
