India is still trying to come to terms with the loss of almost 270 lives in the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that crashed in 38 seconds. The flight met its ill fate when it took off from Ahmedabad International Airport at 1.38 p.m. for London. The nation has been left mourning, and amid this, there have been some senior executives from the Air India SATS (AISATS) who were reportedly caught on camera dancing their hearts out to Alia Bhatt’s song, Ladki Beautiful Kar Gayi Chul. The clip from their Gurugram office went viral in seconds.
Air India SATS senior executives enjoy a DJ party at the office
The Gurugram office of Air India SATS had seen AISATS’ Chief Operating Officer, Abraham Zakaria, along with Air India’s Chief Financial Officer, GM, Sampreet Kotian, Bengaluru International Airport Limited GM attending the party. The video went viral instantly, where the top Air India officials were seen dancing with the employees, and they were also seen doing a few hook steps. The clip came days after the Ahmedabad flight crash happened, and it has not even been a month since the tragic mishap took place.
Netizens are upset with Air India SATS officials doing a DJ party at the office
One user, after seeing the video, commented, “Humanity loses, unbelievable.” Another user commented, “This is completely insensitive! Air India and its staff need to work on their aircraft. There is nothing to celebrate with this Airline, and above all, there was a recent tragedy due to which their tickets are now half-price, so what is the purpose of this celebration?” One angry user even wrote, “Uska ghar ka koye nhi mara he. marta to eisa nhi hotaa. This is not acceptable at all everyone should be punished.”
While an upset user also wrote, “Celebrate happiness but first of all don’t forget to mourn for the deceased in cultural and decent way celebrate happiness ; after soo many lives were lost it’s a shame to party like this that too you are also ruining the image of Air India as it is air India has gone down first in services now also in safety.”

AISATS issues a statement related to the clip
For the unversed, AISATS has been a 50-50 joint venture between Tata Group’s Air India Limited and Singapore’s SATS Ltd. It takes care of the ground services of the airport which also included of Boeing 787 Dreamliner that met a fatal end on the Ahmedabad to London route. Now, the company, in a statement to IANS about the viral video shared:
“AISATS is aware of a video being circulated on social media that unfortunately, is completely out of context. Notwithstanding, we sincerely regret any emotional discomfort this may have caused.”

The apology did not calm the anger of the public, as many have been discussing on social media about how the clip showed a lack of respect for the families of the victims. The AI71 flight reportedly had suffered a massive engine failure during its takeoff. The plane landed at the hotel building of BJ Medical college and killed 241 people on board and many on the ground. The bodies of the victims were charred, beyond recognition and required forensic experts and DNA sample tests for identification. The victims included 151 Indian citizens, reportedly along with 34 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, one Canadian.
