J.K. Rowling has given the Harry Potter series her stamp of approval.

The controversial author recently took to X (formerly Twitter)to praise the show, which is set to be a “faithful adaptation” of Rowling’s mega-selling fantasy series. She also noted that she “worked closely with the extremely talented writers” on the series.

“I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO Harry Potter series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!” she added.

It was previously revealed that Rowling would be an executive producer on the Harry Potter show, but wasn’t expected to have day-to-day involvement. While the author has faced criticism for her anti-transgender sentiments, HBO and Max content chief Casey Bloys has said he’s “not worried about it” impacting the show and is “not concerned about consumer response.”

The series, which is set to begin shooting mid-summer 2025, has already announced much of its cast “to lead a new generation of fandom,” including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as the new Ron Weasley.

The cast also features John Lithgow as Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu (Black Mirror) as Professor Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrel, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge.

HBO plans to adapt each of Rowling’s seven Harry Potter novels into a season of television, with Francesca Gardiner serving as showrunner, writer and executive producer, and Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes and executive producing. The series is also executive produced by Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films.
