Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-awaited film ‘Kuberaa’ finally hit theatres this Friday and has opened to a solid start. As per early estimates by Sacnilk.com, the pan-India film minted Rs 13 crore on its opening day.

While the film received positive reviews, especially for Dhanush’s compelling performance, its Day 1 collection fell slightly short of the actor’s last theatrical outing ‘Raayan’, which had earned Rs 15.7 crore. Still, the occupancy figures indicate growing interest – ‘Kuberaa’ recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of 57.36 per cent on Friday, with footfalls rising from 38.94 per cent in the morning shows to 57.04 per cent by evening.

The graph looks promising as the weekend approaches, with positive word-of-mouth likely to push the film further. In the Hindi market, however, ‘Kuberaa’ faces competition from Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, which also released this week, opening at Rs 11.50 crore.

‘Kuberaa’ is helmed by director Sekhar Kammula and also stars Jim Sarbh in a pivotal role.

On Friday, in a heartfelt moment, Dhanush, accompanied by his son Linga, attended the first public screening at Rohini Silver Screens in Chennai. Visibly emotional, the actor was overwhelmed by the roaring reception.

Ahead of release, the film was cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a UA rating. Notably, 19 scenes were trimmed, resulting in a 13-minute 41-second cut in the final runtime.

With the stage set and buzz building, all eyes are now on how ‘Kuberaa’ performs through its first weekend.
