However, in 2021, the British-Indian businessman was leading headlines after being arrested for allegedly producing and distributing adult content through an app. This incident caused Raj to go through a legal battle and excessive public scrutiny. Now, in a recent interview, he spoke his heart out about the darkest days in jail.
Raj Kundra recalls the darkest times when he was arrested
In a recent interview with the Bombay Times, Raj Kundra recalled the darkest times in his life after his arrest. For the unversed, Raj was arrested in July 2021 for allegedly producing and distributing adult content through an app and had spent 63 days in Arthur Road Jail. Later in September 2021, he was granted bail. However, the case is still under trial, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating Raj for the attached assets worth nearly Rs. 98 crore in an alleged money laundering probe related to the case. Speaking to Bombay Times, Raj shared:
“Those were some of the darkest times of my life. There was anger, hurt and confusion, but also deep self-reflection. I could’ve let that chapter define me, but I chose instead to learn from it. The truth has its own timeline, and I’ve made peace with that. My focus now is to move forward with clarity, creativity and courage.”
Raj Kundra shares that his wife, Shilpa Shetty, was the lone supporter in that tough phase
Further in the interview, Raj recalled how, during tough times, many of his friends had just vanished. He shared his guilt about dragging his family into a controversial matter. The businessman also shared how his wife and actress, Shilpa, became a pillar of strength and stood by his side. In his words:
“Some friendships vanished overnight, others got stronger than ever. But the real pain was watching my loved ones suffer because of my headlines. That guilt stays with you. And yet, the love they gave me during that storm is what saved me. You realise who your tribe is, and you never take them for granted again. Shilpa stood by me with grace and resilience, even when it would’ve been easier to walk away. My kids gave me reason to smile when I felt like disappearing. That kind of unconditional support rewires your soul.”
