Son of Sardaar 2 poster and release date unveiled
It was on June 19, 2025, when Ajay Devgn announced the release date for his film, Son of Sardaar 2. The actor took to his social media account and shared the poster for the film, which featured Ajay looking dapper in ‘Jaswinder Singh Randhawa’ aka ‘Jassi’s’ role. The actor stood on top of two tanks in the poster. The film, which has officially been titled, The Return of the Sardaar, will be released on July 25, 2025. The note shared by Ajay could be read as stating:

The upcoming comedy is set to take the fans on a fresh and hilarious journey. Additionally, the actor shared the news with fans using the hashtags #SardaarIsBack and #SOS2. The sequel will reprise Ajay’s role as ‘Jassi’ and will bring Mrunal Thakur as a key character. Backed by Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and T-Series, the film promises a perfect mix of action, comedy, and high-spirited drama.

It was a few days ago when Son of Sardaar 2’s leading lady, Mrunal Thakur, posted a clapboard photo with the film’s name on it. In the picture, the actress can be seen peeking from behind the curtain. For the caption, she wrote,

Netizens have a mixed reaction to the announcement of Son of Sardaar 2. While some are happy about the news, others are reserved about the sequel. On the other hand, some fans are heartbroken as there won’t be ‘Tony Singh Sandhu’ in the film. For the unversed, ‘Tony Singh Sandhu’ was essayed by Mukul Dev, who passed away on May 24, 2025. However, the shoot for the film was completed before his unfortunate demise, marking this film as his last. A user expressed their grief about the same on Reddit and penned, “No Tony Paji this time.”
Others wondered if Sonakshi Sinha would make her cinema comeback with the film and wrote, “Is Sonakshi going to be the lead actress?” Others shared their opinion on the film. A user penned, “Ajay Devgn’s annual fan service movie. Raid 2 was a hit, and now another sequel. Good on him! He knows his strengths and knows what the audience expects from him.” Another wrote, “Un-popular opinion, the story of the movie may have been average, but there were some scenes which I liked, they may be dumb, but it made me laugh.
