For years, the place was a private retreat of Mohanlal and his family. After Malayalam star Mammootty opened his Kochi residence for visitors, Mohanlal followed suit. Mohanlal’s villa in Ooty is designed as a colonial bungalow
Located 15 minutes from Ooty, Mohanlal’s villa is named ‘Hideaway’ is a perfect retreat for a calm staycation. Situated in the picturesque location of Ooty, the villa is designed in a colonial manner with wooden flooring complementing the pastel walls. Big chandeliers add the beauty of the house. The living area is well lit with a big, bright, turquoise coloured sofa situated in a corner.

The three-bedroom villa is perfect for vacation as the place is situated in the lap of the hills. Apart from the bedrooms, the house has a mini library with an earthy theme. The tan leather sofa complements the wooden flooring. There is a small shelf with books to pick a good read and spend the evening while sipping a coffee near the fireplace. The wall above the fireplace features caricatures of Mohanlal from his various films.
The secret gun room cum bar station
The home also features a secret gun room, which is also a bar station. With vintage guns placed on the wall, the room adds an old-world charm to its setting. A corner space boasts some of the best alcohol and wines. The windows don’t have any curtains or blinds, and hence ample light flows through them. It’s a perfect place to sit and have a drink while looking out at a magnificent garden.
The spacious master bedroom of Mohanlal
The best room in the entire villa is Mohanlal’s bedroom, which is where the megastar used to sleep. Done in a muted tone of grey, the room features a huge bed. Since bedrooms are meant for relaxation, dim lights are used to calm the mind. The room has direct access to the garden.
The sprawling garden with lush green trees and rare flowers
The highlight of the house is the sprawling garden, which is surrounded by lush greenery, keeping one close to nature. The garden has a number of flowers, mainly grown in the hills. It is an ideal place to have a mini picnic during the day, serenaded by the chirping of birds. At night, one can enjoy barbeque with some lip-smacking cuisines prepared by Mohanlal’s chef.
