Noted party starters The Chainsmokers have pushed that ethos just a little bit farther Wednesday (June 18) via their new remix of Charli xcx‘s “Party 4 U.”
Under the duo’s watch, the five-minute original gets pared way down to two minutes and 15 seconds, with the guys bumping up the BPM and weaving Charli’s voice through a kaleidoscopic production then adding a big, bass-heavy drop at the end. The original song is the biggest hit from from Charli’s 2020 pandemic-era album How I’m Feeling Now.
The new project is the second high-level edit from The Chainsmokers recently, with the guys dropping their take on Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” in April. Earlier this week, the pair — Alex Pall and Drew Taggart — also celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their era-defining track “Roses,” which was released on June 16, 2015, and topped out on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 2016, when it hit No. 6, ultimately spending 31 weeks on the chart.
“This song came out and changed our lives,” the pair wrote on social media while celebrating the anniversary. “Thank y’all riding with us ever since.”
The Chainsmokers’ upcoming show dates include San Diego’s Into the Horizon festival this weekend, Ottawa’s Escapade Music Festival, shows in Bali, Singapore and Macau and their ongoing residency at XS in Las Vegas. They also have dates at Montreal’s Osheaga festival and the Massachusetts and Alabama editions of the traveling electronic festival Breakaway, with their current tour schedule extending into the fall.
