NEW DELHI: After wrapping up Canada visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday headed to Croatia, the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Balkan nation.According to his departure statement, PM Modi will meet Croatian President Zoran Milanovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on June 18. The agenda includes:
- Strengthening bilateral ties: Talks will focus on expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, technology, and cultural exchange.
- Building on historical links: Both countries share centuries-old cultural connections, which PM Modi aims to deepen during this landmark visit.
Global cooperation on terrorism : PM Modi will also use the visit to thank partner countries for supporting India’s stand against cross-border terrorism and to push for a united global stance against terror in all its forms.
- Defence and strategic collaboration: India and Croatia signed an MoU to boost cooperation in defence technology and strategic sectors. As an EU and NATO member, Croatia is a key European partner for India in a changing global security landscape.
- India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor: Talks will cover the proposed India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, a major infrastructure project aimed at boosting connectivity and trade, offering an alternative to existing global routes.
This final leg of PM Modi’s international tour is expected to open new avenues for India-Croatia collaboration.
