NEW DELHI: Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey were among the passengers who remained stuck inside an IndiGo aircraft for nearly 40 minutes after it landed in Raipur on Wednesday, due to a technical glitch that prevented the door from opening. The incident occurred on IndiGo flight 6E-6313 from Delhi, which landed around 2:20 pm. “When we asked about the reason for the delay in opening the door, the crew said there was some technical problem, and they were trying to open it,” Choubey told PTI. “After 30 minutes, we asked them to seek assistance from the people outside. Then the people on the ground opened the door.”Passengers expressed concern given the backdrop of recent aviation tragedies, particularly the June 13 crash of an Air India plane in Ahmedabad that killed 270 people. “After the Ahmedabad incident, minor glitches also remind you of that tragedy,” Choubey added.Baghel confirmed the account, stating that passengers remained trapped inside for about 40 minutes.IndiGo later issued a statement, acknowledging the delay and citing a “minor technical issue.” The airline said, “Following standard safety procedures, the door was opened after necessary checks were completed. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding.”
