Eric Dane has reportedly moved on from his estranged wife, Rebecca Gayheart, with director Jannell Shirtcliff as he battles amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
“The two have been in an on-and-off relationship for over three years and care deeply for each other,” an insider told “Entertainment Tonight” on Wednesday.
“Eric asked Janell to be there for him during this time, and she wanted to show up for him.”
According to the source, Dane, 52, and Shirtcliff are “extremely close and mean a great deal to one another.”
The couple was spotted on a date night at the Chateau Marmont on Tuesday.
As for the “Euphoria” star and Gayheart, who wed in 2004, they chose to dismiss their 2018 divorce filing in March due to “everything going on with his health.”
The exes have allegedly “become better friends and better parents,” with the insider noting that Gayheart, 53, is the actor’s “biggest champion.”
Reps for Dane weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
Dane and Gayheart are parents to daughters Billie,15, and Georgia, 13.
Despite being separated, the two have maintained a friendly co-parenting relationship and were even spotted holding hands while vacationing in Mexico in 2023.
In April, Grayheart clarified her relationship status with the “Grey’s Anatomy” star, telling E! News that they were the “best of friends,” “really close” and “great co-parents.”
“I think our kids are benefiting greatly from it and we are as well,” she said.
That same month, Dane announced his ALS diagnosis during a candid interview with People.
“I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,” he said.
At the time, Dane shared that he would still be filming Season 3 of “Euphoria.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, ALS is a “nervous system disease” that can progressively lead to “loss of muscle control.”
The “Burlesque” star started experiencing symptoms a year and a half ago with weakness in his right hand.
