Anne Burrell’s husband, Stuart Claxton, reportedly found the chef’s cold, unconscious body on the shower floor Tuesday morning before first responders pronounced her dead.
Law enforcement sources claimed Claxton last saw the “Worst Cooks in America” host alive at 1 a.m. — just hours before he discovered her body in their Brooklyn, NY, home around 7:50 a.m., reports TMZ.
Claxton proceeded to call 911 and was allegedly advised to perform CPR on the Food Network star.
However, her body was cold by that time. It remains unclear as to whether the life-saving measure was ever performed.
As we previously reported, a rep for the New York City Fire Department told Page Six that the 911 caller claimed Burrell went into “cardiac arrest” and was “DOA [dead on arrival].”
An official cause of death for the Food Network star has not yet been revealed and an investigation is ongoing.
A rep for Burrell did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Before her passing, the famed chef spent her final night having “a blast” at an improv show held at The Second City New York in Brooklyn.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and student, Anne Burrell. She will be missed and remembered as a vibrant part of our Second City New York Training Center community,” a rep for the venue told Page Six in a statement Wednesday.
“Anne brought joy, boldness, and an unwavering ‘yes, and’ spirit. Her enthusiasm was contagious, her presence unforgettable. Our thoughts go out to Anne’s family and loved ones.”
Similar sentiments were also expressed in the many tributes from other Food Network stars with ties to the late chef.
The “Worst Cooks in America” host was remembered by her family in a statement confirming her death as a “beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend.”
“Her smile lit up every room she entered,” her loved ones shared in a statement obtained by Page Six.
“Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
Burrell is survived by her husband — whom she wed in 2021 — and his son, Javier.
