Born in 1924 in Rajasthan, Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati was the commanding officer of Charlie Company of the 13 Kumaon Regiment. His name is etched in Indian military history for leading 120 soldiers into battle at the snow-covered heights of Rezang La in Ladakh. On November 18, 1962, despite being vastly outnumbered, he and his men stood firm against the Chinese forces, fighting till their last breath to protect the strategic Chushul airstrip.
Their resistance was not just heroic — it was legendary. Out of the 120 soldiers, 114 were martyred. Yet their sacrifice delayed the Chinese advance and demonstrated an unmatched level of bravery and selflessness. For his extraordinary leadership and ultimate sacrifice, Maj Shaitan Singh was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra — India’s highest wartime gallantry award.
Bringing this powerful story to the big screen is 120 Bahadur, a war drama that promises to be as emotionally stirring as it is historically significant. Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai, the film is a joint production under Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios, with producers Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, and Amit Chandrra backing the ambitious project.
The film’s story and screenplay have been penned by Rajiv G Menon, while acclaimed writer Sumit Arora handles the dialogues. Music for the film is composed by Amit Trivedi with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, promising a stirring auditory experience to match the visual intensity of the narrative.
120 Bahadur is slated for a theatrical release on November 21, 2025, and will commemorate the valour of men who gave everything they had for their country — led by a hero whose name still evokes awe and reverence.
