Mukul Dev left the entire film industry grief-stricken when he bid farewell to the world on May 23, 2025, at the mere age of 54. The reason for his demise was not circulated back then, and it was stated that the actor passed away after being hospitalised for several days. Later, his brother, Rahul Dev confirmed the news. And his Son Of Saardar co-star, Vindu Dara Singh, revealed that he was suffering from loneliness. Now, Rahul Dev revealed the actual reason for his brother’s demise.

Recently, Rahul Dev sat for an interview with ETimes, wherein he stated that his brother was suffering from loneliness. He mentioned that Mukul was admitted to the hospital 8 days before his demise, and it was due to his poor eating habits. Rahul said that his late brother had stopped eating completely and didn’t even had anything for 4-5 days before his demise.
Sharing more about the reason, Rahul shared that Mukul felt lonely and lost interest in living. He stated that his brother had no zeal for living the life. He shared how Mukul stopped working on the films and focused more on writing, even when the former encouraged him to take up projects. In Rahul Dev’s words:
“He felt lonely, and he had lost interest in life. Usko zindagi jeene ka jazba nahi tha. He grew reclusive. He wasn’t looking after himself, and living alone didn’t help.”

In the same interview, Rahul Dev mentioned that Mukul moved back to Delhi in 2019, to take care of his father, but he died, followed by his mother’s demise in 2023, and this took a toll on the late actor. Rahul stated that Mukul couldn’t ever recover from this pain. He also shared that Mukul was divorced, and his daughter also didn’t live with him. Thus, her absence started impacting the late actor, and he grew reclusive. Rahul stated that Mukul was not looking after him, and since he was staying alone, it intesnified his loneliness. Rahul also mentioned that whenever he would ask him to take care of himself, he would ignore the former.

Going forward in the interview, Rahul Dev slammed those who said Mukul was suffering from depression. He questioned where these people were when Mukul felt alone and isolated. He asked whether any of these people had ever tried to connect Mukul before tagging him as ‘unfit’. He clarified the buzz by mentioning that his brother had two films as his next release, and had he been unfit, no one would have hired him. He further stated that his brother never remarried or tried again. He also revealed that he’s in a tough phase of life as well, but his brother wasn’t a bechara. He said:
“He felt isolated. Who really stayed in touch with him between 2019 and 2024? Did they visit him when he was in hospital or attend his prayer meet? He had two upcoming releases and had recently shot in England for Son of Sardaar. No one will cast you if you’re not fit. And the irony is, someone so naturally social ended up so alone. He never remarried or tried again.”
