Late Gujarat CM, Vijay Rupani’s antim darshan took place on June 16, 2025. His body was wrapped in tricolour, and a procession was held. In the glimpses, Vijay’s widowed wife, Anjali Rupani, was seen tearing up as she paid her last respects to her husband. For the unversed, Vijay’s last rites reportedly took place in Rajkot. It was on June 15, 2025, when Gujarat Home Minister, Harsh Sanghvi confirmed that Vijay’s DNA sample was matched around 11:00 a.m., and following this, his mortal remains were handed over to his family, and his last rites and funeral took place the next day.

In one of the glimpses, Vijay’s son, Rushabh Rupani was seen consoling his grieving mother at his dad’s funeral, and it was a heartbreaking glimpse to witness. In a word, the entire Gujarat mourned Vijay Rupani’s demise. Vijay worked for the people of Gujarat for several years and for the same reason, his passing came as a heartbreak for everyone.

On the day of his father, Vijay Rupani’s funeral, his son, Rushabh Rupani talked to ANI, and mentioned that this is not only a grieving time for his family only, but for every family who has lost their close ones in this tragic incident. In the statement, he thanked everyone who stood by their family in this tough time. Talking about his father, Vijay, Rushabh mentioned that for 50-55 years, his dad worked for people and touched many lives, and thus, everyone is by their side now. In Rushabh’s words:
“I also express gratitude to PM Modi, CM Bhupendra Patel and other leaders for supporting and standing with not just our family, but also all other families. My father touched many lives during the 50-55 years of his political life. Today, all those people are standing by us. Many party workers from Punjab are also coming here to express their condolences…”

Vijay Rupani and Anjali Rupani crossed paths as they both were associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the beginning of their careers. Talking about their first meeting, it was Vijay who reached Anjali’s home as an RSS pracharak, to eat at the local worker’s home. Anjali’s father was a local worker, and that’s how the couple met. Anjali and Vijay got married in 1980 in a traditional Hindu ceremony, and they had three kids. Their younger son, Pujit passed away at the age of 3 in a car accident.
Now, Vijay, too, lost his life in this tragic incident. While Anjali doesn’t hold any official position, she is a senior leader of BJP Mahila Morcha, the women’s wing of this party, and has 30 years of experience in the political field.
