A video featuring veteran actor, Ashish Vidyarthi has gone viral where a fan says in the video, “Ashutosh Gowariker, he is on the same flight as me. I am so happy, sir”, as the actor walks behind her. To her mix-up, Ashish responds with humour and first asks the fan not to edit the video. Then he states that it is a unique quality of his that everyone calls him by different names. He also mentions to watch The Kapil Sharma Show for this. Then Ashish humorously states that this is the first time someone has called him Ashutosh Gowariker. In the viral video, the actor says:
“Achha, if you promise not to edit it… ye meri khaasiyat hai. Aap log Kapil Sharma Show dekhiyega iske liye. Har ek koi mujhe alag alag naam se pukaarta hai. Pehli baar kisine Ashutosh Gowariker bulaya hai.”
The fan then says to the actor that she recognised him correctly. She even insists on it. However, Ashish corrects her with grace. He gently, tells her in the video, “Mera naam Ashish Vidyarthi hai”. The fan is visibly embarrassed after the interaction and facepalms herself.

So, in The Kapil Sharma Show, Ashish mentioned that he has often been confused with his contemporary for their similar antagonist roles. In the show, he said:
“My name is Ashish Vidyarthi. Many people don’t know that and sometimes it becomes a problem. Whenever I travel, people come for autographs and selfies and call me Ashutosh Rana. ”
