Aamir Khan is one of the most loved superstars of all time. After Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, Aamir’s films have been known to leave a strong mark on his millions of fans. However, one of his films, PK, directed by Rajkumar Hirani in 2014, divided the nation, as some enjoyed the take on religion, while others called it an attack. Now, in an interview with Rajat Sharma for his show, Aap Ki Adalat, Aamir responded to the allegations that PK endorsed love jihad.
Aamir Khan talked about PK being against religion
Aamir was shocked by such a big claim. He clarified that they are not against any religion. He added that their motive was just to make people cautious of those who exploit religion to fool the common man in order to extract money. Aamir was quoted as saying:
“They’re wrong. We’re not against any religion. We respect all religions and all religious people. That film just tells us to be cautious of those who exploit religion to fool the common man in order to extract money from them. You’ll find people like that in every religion. That was the film’s only purpose.”
Aamir also talked about the scene in which Ansuhka was trying to marry a Pakistani Muslim man. He added that Hindus and Muslims often fall in love, and it is not always ‘love jihad’. He called it humanity above religion. He even emphasised the fact that if his sisters and daughter marry Hindu men, it is also called love jihad. For the uninitiated, Aamir’s sister, Nikhat, is married to Santosh Hegde, and his other sister, Farhat, got married to Rajeev Dutta. Also, his daughter, Ira Khan, tied the knot with Nupur Shkhare. It is worth mentioning that Aamir had two marriages with Hindu women.
Aamir was also questioned about choosing Muslim names for his children, despite their mothers being Hindus. Aamir stated that his children have been named by his wives (Reena and Kiran). He had no role in it except that he agreed. He said:
“My kids have been named by my wives. There wasn’t any interference from my end. Husbands ki zyada chalti nahi hai. Let me tell you, Ira is another name for (goddess) Saraswati. Have you heard of Irawati? It’s just that Reena wanted to pronounce it differently.”

More about Aamir Khan’s personal life
Aamir got married to Reena Dutta at the age of 21, but they had known each other for just four months before getting married. In an interview with Raj Shamani, Aamir shared anecdotes of his life. When Raj asked Aamir about the biggest mistake in his personal life, The superstar added that he had made a lot of mistakes, and he believes that he has turned into this man because of his errors in life. He talked about his first wife, Reena and stated that they got married quite early in their life.
Aamir revealed that he was 21 and she was 19 when they decided to marry, but they had just known each other for four months. But in a rush as young bloods, they decided to tie the knot. However, it doesn’t mean that Reena was a mistake, but they should have given thought to making such a big decision.
