US Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified on Thursday that the United States had no role in Israel’s recent strikes against Iran, emphasizing that Washington’s main concern is the safety of American forces in the region.

“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,” Rubio said in a statement.

He also issued a firm warning to Tehran: “Let me be clear: Iran should not target US interests or personnel.”
