Baxi sisters who passed away in Air India crash dreamt of travelling across the world
Two sisters, Dhir Baxi and Heer Baxi, who were in their 20s with a life full of opportunities ahead of them, passed away in the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash. They happily came to India with joy and excitement to meet their ‘nani’. However, the trip, which was meant to be a happy reunion, has now turned into a tragedy for their family. Their cousin, Ishan Baxi, who lives in Ahmedabad, opened up about the incident with the PA news agency.
Ishan revealed that the Baxi sisters arrived in Ahmedabad to surprise their grandmother. He recalled that both Dhir and Heer were smart and knew what was best for them. Heer was a project manager who was passionate towards finance, while Dhir was a fashion designer. She had studied at the prestigious Parsons Paris Art and Design School. Ishan highlighted that both the sisters had a dream to be successful and roam the world with their parents.
Ishan Baxi shares their grandmother is feeling ‘guilt’ over Baxi sister’s demise
Dhir and Heer Baxi came to surprise their grandmother, Elaben, for her 75th birthday and visited Rajkot-Vadodara to seek the blessings of their elders. They were the daughters of Chetan Bakshi, who runs a finance business in the UK and Kosha Bakshi. However, the family lost their young daughters, and while everyone is in shock, their grandmother is feeling guilty for it. Sharing how everyone is shocked over the Baxi sister’s demise, he said:
“Right now, no one is able to come (to) terms because they both came here just to celebrate grandma’s birthday, but, see, the tragedy – they came, they celebrated, and they both left the world; everything vanished right in front of our eyes.”
How did the Air India aeroplane crash take place in Ahmedabad?
Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight AI171 took off from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, 2025, at noon where it crashed within minutes at a nearby hostel. The incident claimed nearly 265 lives in total, with one survivor from the ill-fated Air India flight. While those injured are being treated at the nearby Civil Hospital, the investigations for the case have been started by multiple organisations.
