In a recent interview, the actress opened up about how she used to juggle between her busy schedules without sleep.
Apara Mehta recalls she shot for 17 days with bloodshot eyes and no sleep amid busy schedules
Apara Mehta recently sat down for a conversation with the Friday Talkies and recalled the year 2000 which held a lot of significance for her. The actress shot for her iconic TV show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu, which brought her fame and promising opportunities like a vital role in Devdas, but it also made her push her limits to the max. The actress shared that near the Diwali festival, she received a call from Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who offered her to meet him for a role in his next film, which left her stunned. Recalling the same, she said:
“The person on the other side said, ‘I am Sanjay Leela Bhansali speaking.’ My mouth fell open. I was making Aloo tikki when I picked up the call. He then said, ‘I am making a film called Devdas. I am offering a very tiny part to you but I feel you fit the role perfectly.’ I couldn’t say a thing to him.”
When he arrived at his home to meet him, she was greeted by his mom, who revealed that she had suggested her name for the role. Initially, she was required to shoot for a mujra song, Kaahe Chhed Chhed Mohe. It was a 12-day-long schedule, and the actress thought she would manage it. But, her TV show’s shoot got extended leaving her with no choice but to shoot for 17 days without sleep. Sharing her condition, she said:
“I have worked round the clock for 17 days and nights, and it was after this I realised that there is just death after this, hospital is also not an option. I used to go for my Devdas shoot with bloodshot eyes because I was sleep-deprived. But this was an experience. I was so happy to see the set of Devdas.”
Apara Mehta shares she had manifested to become a part of a project like Devdas
Nowadays, manifestation has become a popular trend among the younger generation. But, in her interview, Apara Mehta shared that even before the opportunity to star in Devdas came her way, she had silently hoped to become a part of a project like Devdas. Even when she read about the news of Sanjay Leela Bhansali making Devdas in the newspaper, she thought that if she would ever do a film, it would be like that grand-scale project. However, she never shared her thoughts with anyone.
