Los Angeles doesn’t really have a reputation as a walkable city. There’s a lot of sprawl and a lot of cars, but it was by taking long walks through LA that Miya Folick found the songs that make up her latest album, Erotica Veronica.
Folick has had a busy touring schedule. She’s toured with acts like Mitski, The Japanese House and Faye Webster, but coming back to writing from touring had her feeling burnt out. Walking through LA cleared her mind and helped her find her creativity.
Then, over the course of six weeks, she wrote songs mostly on acoustic guitar before producing the album on her own. Today, you’ll hear a mini-concert recorded exclusively by Folick for World Cafe. Enjoy!
