Sonam Raghuvanshi is trending all across social media as she is being called ‘Bewafa Sonam’. This is because in May 2025, she executed the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, with the help of three contract killers, during her pretended honeymoon to Meghalaya. It was Sonam’s brother, Govind, who knew about her leaving for Meghalaya and has lately revealed that he had heard her call recording with her alleged boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha.
Govind Raghuvanshi claims he knew about his sister, Sonam’s, affair with Raj Kushwaha
Sonam was married off to Raja Raghuvanshi, a transport businessman from Indore. Sonam, with her alleged lover, Raj and the other four accused, as of now, are in the police custody and are being interrogated by the Shillong Police. Now, a recent report by the Patrika revealed that Govind knew about Sonam and Raj’s conversations way before her marriage was fixed with Raja. The report further stated that Govind used to keep an eye on Sonam and Raja’s family had accused him of hiding her affair with Raj.
However, Govind had refuted these claims and stated according to the publication that he used to keep an eye on his sister, Sonam. He had once even in his office had installed CCTV cameras and used to check Sonam’s phone and also listen to her phone recordings. However, Raj also shared:
“Raj always called Sonam didi (sister). Sonam tied a rakhi to me and Raj while together in my house. Raj was just our employee. He was working in our office for two-three years. He used to manage the office and handle clients.”
Cops find a phone with Sonam
The publication also mentioned that when the Special Investigation Team collected all the technical evidence, they checked on the CCTV clippings, Sonam’s home stay, scooter hiring records, Railway tickets and Public Switched Telephone Network Data. These were the important findings in the case, and David NR Mark, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Shillong, had revealed that a phone was found with Sonam. Statements of all the accused were recorded in the Raja Raghuvanshi planned murder case.

Sonam’s brother, Govind, had claimed in a press statement that he was fully sure that Sonam was the mastermind behind the murder of her husband and had shared a cut-off contact from her. Govind also shared that he expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family of Raja and shared that his sister should be hanged to death if proven guilty of the crime. Govind had shared:
“Absolutely, if Sonam is found guilty, she should be hanged straight away. I will appoint a lawyer myself to represent Raja Raghuvanshi’s family in the court.”
He also revealed that he and his family have cut all their ties with Sonam and shared of going to Indore to console the family of Raja. He shared that their family lost their son, and he has expressed his apology to them. Govind also shared that he is unsure if Sonam had confessed to the crime and shared that he was 100 per cent sure that she had committed the crime. In the Meghalaya murder case of Raja, apart from Sonam and Raj, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi were arrested.
