One of the worst aviation accidents took place on June 12, 2025, that shocked the nation. A London-bound Air India flight crashed in Ahmedabad right after it took off. The flight carried 242 passengers, out of which 217 were adults and 11 were children, according to Reuters. 169 were Indian nationals, 53 were Britons, seven were Portuguese, and one was Canadian, as reported by Air India.
The number of casualties has not been confirmed yet, but out of the 242 passengers on board, only one survivor has been documented for now. Amidst this national devastation, a woman has come forward and spoken about how she missed her flight to London by ten minutes, or she would have also boarded the fateful Air India flight.
One woman missed the tragic plane crash by a few minutes
A woman named Bhoomi Chauhan was supposed to leave for London on an Air India flight. But she missed her flight by ten minutes as she was stuck in traffic, reported Republic TV. These ten minutes saved her life as the Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which Bhoomi was supposed to board, crashed after a few minutes of take-off.
Bhoomi Chauhan talked about her lucky escape
Talking about her escape, Bhoomi said that she was still shivering thinking about it and was rendered speechless given the whole ordeal. She also expressed her devastation over the loss of lives. To note, the Air India flight crashed into a nearby medical college’s hostel during their lunch time. As per reports, over 50 people in the hostel are injured, and 5 have been confirmed dead. Meanwhile, except for one survivor who jumped out at the last moment, most of the passengers on board the flight are feared to be dead. No official statement has been released claiming the total death count. Bhoomi said in her own words:
“I am completely devastated after hearing about the loss. My body is literally shivering. I am not being able to talk. My mind is totally blank now after hearing all that has happened.”

Bhoomi Chauhan thanked God for saving her
Bhoomi Chauhan is based in London with her husband and came to India for a vacation. She was supposed to fly alone out of India but missed the flight and left the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around 1.30 pm. The Air India flight crashed after a few minutes of take-off at 1:38 pm. For this narrow escape, Bhoomi thanked God and said that ‘Ganpati Bappa’ saved her. She is also unable to explain how she was saved in just ten minutes. Talking about her escape, she said:
“My mind is totally blank. I am thankful to God. My Ganpati Bappa saved me…Just because of those ten minutes, I could not board the flight. I don’t know how to explain this.”
