Three people, including a mother-daughter duo, died in Uttar Pradesh as a speeding XUV car heading towards Jhansi lost control and overturned after crashing into a road divider.
The victims have been identified as 35-year-old Asma, her 14-year-old daughter Usna, and the driver, Aamir. Five others, including children, sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Jhansi Medical College after initial treatment at Moth Trauma Centre.
According to police, the car was carrying eight passengers from Siddharthnagar, en route to Maharashtra. The vehicle was being driven by Aamir, a resident of Gonda. The impact of the crash was so severe that the XUV was completely mangled.
Police personnel quickly arrived at the scene after receiving an alert. “The vehicle was coming from the Kanpur side. Near Khilli, it hit the divider and got completely damaged. Three of the car passengers were declared dead by the doctor. Five others, including two to three children, are seriously injured and are undergoing treatment,” Harimohan, police official.
Dr Ziajaffar, who received the victims at the trauma centre, said, “A family was travelling from Siddharthnagar to a village in Maharashtra. They had an accident near Khilli. Eight people were brought here by ambulance. Three of them were already dead, and five were seriously injured. After giving them primary treatment, we referred them to Jhansi Medical College.
Police have taken custody of the victims and sent the bodies for postmortem. The condition of the injured remains critical.
