Gabrielle Union opted for timeless formal attire at the American Black Film Festival in Miami on Thursday, pairing black patent mule heels with a black A-line midi dress from Cong Tri.

Union opted for a classic footwear silhouette to participate in the event, Sisterhood & Savings: A Conversation With Gabrielle Union. She slipped on a mule heel with an hourglass-shaped strap that reached across the toes and a narrow heel that elevated the set in the back. With a patent finish, the shoes added a glamorous gloss to her ensemble, aligning with the formality of her dress. She wore a similar shoe silhouette to the Proudly x JCPenney launch in Los Angeles in May, pairing Manolo Blahnik’s raffia Jadara mules with an orange dress from Banana Republic. (She and husband Dwyane Wade are the cofounders of baby brand Proudly.)

Union’s shoes served as an accent to Cong Tri’s Sequin-Detailed Organza Midi Dress, which retails for $2,900 from the label. The dress is fitted at the top and then flares at the waist into a wide skirt, creating a distinct A-line silhouette. The sleeveless, square-neck garment is embellished with what the brand refers to as its signature sequin detailing. As for accessories, Union wore silver hoop earrings and an assortment of rings.
Additional celebrities to have showcased Cong Tri looks this year include Ciara and Eva Longoria.

Although she recently wore a vibrant orange hue, Union has been wearing several black or white — or black and white — ensembles lately. She attended an Airbnb event in May, for example, wearing a collared white button-down dress with black boots. Earlier in the month, she modeled Prada at the 2025 Met Gala with a strapless black column dress featuring a white train, a look that complemented Wade’s Prada outfit.
