Singer Ed Sheeran recently teamed up with Arijit Singh for their hit track ‘Sapphire,’ which has quickly struck a chord with Indian audiences. In his note, Ed revealed he became a fan of Arijit after hearing ‘Tum Hi Ho’ while watching ‘Aashiqui 2’. However, some Indian fans were skeptical that the British singer had actually seen the Bollywood film.
The British singer replied by saying that he not only watches Bollywood movies but also enjoys Tollywood cinema.
One of the fans reacted to Ed Sheeran’s post and wrote, “Bro, in no world did you watch Aashiqui 2.” The singer replied, “Why not? I watch loads of Bollywood and Tollywood movies, no one makes movies like that, I love it.”

Ed shared a clip from ‘Sapphire’ on his Instagram handle and admitted to being spellbound after listening to ‘Tum Hi Ho’ while watching ‘Aashiqui 2’.
The singer-songwriter wrote, “I first became aware of Arijit Singh’s music when I watched ‘Aashiqui 2’ and heard ‘Tum Hi Ho’. I was spellbound by his voice, the song, the scene in the movie. I checked him out, and got in touch, and said whenever you wanna sing together, I’m down.”
Ed Sheeran later made a surprise guest appearance at Arijit Singh’s concert in London. During their meeting, Ed shared an early version of ‘Sapphire2019 with Arijit, who immediately offered ideas for the vocals and instrumentation.
The music video ‘Sapphire’, a collaboration between Ed and Arijit released on June 5. The song mesmerised fans as the English singer also sang in Punjabi.
