NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday expressed condolences for the victims of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad and said the entire country is shocked by the incident.“This afternoon, Air India flight AI-171 crashed and many passengers are feared dead. The entire nation is grieving and is standing together with the bereaved families,” Shah told the media in Ahmedabad.Shah said the fire after the crash was so intense that chances of survival were very low. “There was 1.25 lakh litre of fuel inside the plane and it caught heat so it was impossible to save anyone,” he said.He also confirmed that one person had survived the crash. “The good news is that one person survived the crash and I am coming here after meeting him,” Shah added.Shah confirmed that the process of collecting DNA samples from the bodies was complete. “The number of those killed will be officially released by the authorities after DNA test and identification of the victims,” he said.“The process of collecting DNA samples from bodies of those killed in the plane crash is over. Forensic Science Laboratory and National Forensic Sciences University in Gujarat will conduct DNA tests of the victims,” he said.The Air India flight, carrying 232 passengers and 10 crew members, was going to London when it crashed in a residential area of Ahmedabad shortly after taking off from the city’s airport on Thursday afternoon.
