As Sitaare Zameen Par gears up for its theatrical release on June 20, Aamir Khan has been actively promoting the film alongside co-star Genelia Deshmukh and the rest of the cast. Amidst the promotional run, the actor made a heartfelt appearance on YouTube channel Just Filmy Things, where he candidly addressed the longstanding jibes about his height, how he has learned to navigate them over the years, and the life advice he received from veteran writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar.

Recalling his early years in the film industry, Aamir admitted that he once feared being overshadowed by taller contemporaries. He said, “Amitabh Bachchan was at the top of the industry at that time, and other actors like Shatrughan Sinha and Vinod Khanna were all tall and strapping men. I was very nervous about whether a short actor like myself would be given any importance or not, but as it turned out, it was fine.”

Often referred to with terms like “tingu,” Aamir has not only faced public scrutiny but has also developed a personal philosophy to deal with such comments. He credits Javed Akhtar who helped him use humour as a powerful coping mechanism, particularly during challenging times. “A good sense of humour isn’t only for fun and games. Its real power comes to light when you’re going through tough times. Javed Saheb once told me that the ability to laugh at oneself acts like a shock absorber,” the actor shared.

The veteran actor’s ability to introspect and remain grounded has long been admired by fans and colleagues alike. Through this conversation, Aamir once again reminded audiences of the importance of self-acceptance and emotional resilience—qualities that have often been reflected in his choice of films and characters.

Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, explores themes of inclusivity, compassion, and human connection. With Aamir returning to a more emotionally driven narrative after a gap, the film is already creating buzz ahead of its release.

From navigating industry stereotypes to advocating emotional intelligence, Aamir Khan continues to inspire—both on screen and off.
