It was in 1993 when Divya Bharti passed away in a tragic accident, and the blame was put on Sajid, who was devastated after her death.

Divya Bharti was just 19, when she bid adieu to the world, breaking the hearts of millions. It was in the late evening of April 5, 1993, when Divya fell from the balcony of her fifth-floor apartment. She was rushed to the hospital, where the actress was declared dead. The circumstances of her death led to many conspiracies and also dragged her husband, Sajid, as the mastermind behind it. However, in 1998, the actress’ death was officially declared accidental.

The mystery around Divya Bharti’s untimely death still haunts people close to her. And one of them was Divya’s co-actress and friend, Guddi Maruti. In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Guddi revealed that the news of Divya’s death shattered her husband, Sajid, who was out of town at that time.
Guddi revealed that Divya’s death was indeed a tragic accident, which was witnessed by designer, Neeta Lulla. Revealing how the young actress leaned over to check her husband’s car and fell down, Guddi stated:
“Sajid was not at home when it happened. He was devastated. He had just arrived in the city after a trip, and the news was just too much for him to bear. Neeta Lulla was there and saw everything happen. She was present when Divya fell, and she can vouch that it was an accident. Wo apne husband Sajid ki car aayi ki nahi yeh dekhne niche jhukk gayi thi and tabhi wo accident ho gaya.”

After Divya’s death, Sajid was completely distraught and had lived many years in immense pain and loneliness. After her demise, Sajid made sure to dedicate all his films to her. He had continued to do so until he had tied the knot with a journalist, Warda Khan. In an interview with a leading publication, Sajid’s current wife, Warda revealed that he still keeps Divya’s photo in his wallet.
Sajid Khan took years to come to terms with Divya Bharti’s death, and even after so many years, the filmmaker has maintained a close bond with her family.
