Actor Priyanka Chopra paid tribute to her father, Dr Ashok Chopra, on his 12th death anniversary. She shared a childhood photo with him on her Instagram Story. Her father died in 2013 after a battle with cancer.
The emotional post simply read, “Miss you every day, dad.” The nostalgic photo, probably taken during a family trip, shows a happy and simple moment that Priyanka still cherishes deeply.
Over the years, the actor has spoken about the grief of losing her father, often describing it as a constant presence in her life.
On the Read the Room podcast, she opened up saying, “After my dad passed away, I came to a slow but steady conclusion that the kind of pain would never go away. It’s your companion. So, if you are thinking of or waiting for the day when it starts hurting less, when it doesn’t affect you any more or when you get over it. You are never getting over it; it becomes a companion.”
“There will be days when it comes out in a biggish way and wants to stay over for dinner or maybe a week, and there will be days when you don’t even remember about it until you see a photo and you’re like (sigh). Any form of grief will have a duration in which it will become your companion, and you have to let it,” she added.
Priyanka remains busy on the work front. She will next be seen in the action-thriller ‘Heads of State’ alongside John Cena and Idris Elba, premiering July 2 on Prime Video. Her upcoming projects also include the period drama ‘The Bluff’, the second season of ‘Citadel’, and SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated ‘SSMB 29′ with Mahesh Babu.
