Genelia D’Souza and Riteish Deshmukh are one of the most beloved couples of Bollywood who often shell out major relationship goals, be it through their admiration for each other or through their groundedness in their traditional roots. The duo once again won hearts when Genelia, on the occasion of Vat Purnima (Vat Savitri Vrat), performed the sacred rituals praying for her husband’s long life. The actress shared glimpses of the rituals on social media, and her lovely caption melted hearts.
Genelia performs Vat Savitri Puja for her ‘dearest navra’, Riteish Deshmukh
In glimpses from the occasion that have surfaced online, Genelia is seen dressed gracefully in a comfy white Anarkali suit with yellow prints, and she left her tresses open as she performed the puja. For those unaware, Vat Purnima, or Vat Savitri Vrat, is a traditional Hindu ritual performed by married women, where they observe a fast and perform a pooja honouring the banyan tree by tying a sacred thread around it, in order to seek blessings for the well-being and longevity of their husbands.
As a part of the puja’s traditions, Genelia was seen walking around a banyan tree and tying threads around it. Sharing the special moment on Instagram, Genelia wrote a short and sweet caption for her husband, Riteish, that read:
“Dearest Navra, I love you – Busss.”
Riteish, too, took no time to respond to his wife’s affectionate post. Reposting the video on his Instagram handle, the actor penned an emotional note of gratitude for his wife, and his words once again proved why the two have such a beautiful bond. The Raid 2 actor wrote:
“Dearest Baiko @geneliad – am truly blessed to have you in my life. You are my anchor, my force, the wind beneath my wings, my life – I love you.”
