Raja Raghuvanshi did not know that he would meet his end on his honeymoon in Meghalaya. The Indore resident had been to the hills with his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who is the prime suspect in the murder of her husband. Both of them had an arranged marriage, and Raja, even before boarding a train, had shared with his mom that Sonam was not interested in him. Now, amid this, the last conversation he had with his mom, Uma surfaced on social media where he revealed what he had eaten when at the top of the waterfall

Raja’s body was found in a decomposed state and was dumped in a gorge in the dense forest of Meghalaya. In a last conversation with his mother, Raja’s mom, Uma had asked if he had reached the waterfall area. He had said yes, and then she asked if they earlier stayed the night somewhere to which he said yes. Uma also asked Raja if he had eaten anything and shared that she remembered him as she had prepared Farihar snacks during the upvas. Raja, in his last talk to his mom, shared:
“Ab jake pahucha mei. Kela kha lia tha. Abh yaha pahucha hu, yaha se niklunga. Neeche dekha nai jata jharna. Achi jagah thi.”

Uma was shocked to hear that Raja and Sonam had climbed 3,000 steps to just see a waterfall. However, she was happy that Raja had liked the place. Uma had no clue that her bahu, Sonam, would turn out to be the prime suspect in the murder of Raja. The murder of Raja has shocked the entire nation, and they did not realise that Raja’s honeymoon would be the end of his life. Uma shared that Sonam initially did not show interest in Raja and shared in a media statement:
“My son told me he didn’t want to marry her. He said she was not showing any interest. I asked her directly, and she said she was just busy with office work. After that, she started talking to him more. She made all the honeymoon plans.”
Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha cleverly planned the murder
The Crime Branch of the Madhya Pradesh Police Department shared that Sonam and her alleged boyfriend, Raj, had planned the murder of Raja in Indore. Raj worked in the billing department of Sonam’s plywood business and reportedly planned the murder of Raja with the help of Raja, the co-mastermind. In the investigation, it was also revealed that Sonam tracked Raja’s journey via GPS and continuously shared their live location update with Raj and the three killers- Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi to plan the murder in the remotest part of Meghalaya.
The weapon used for the crime reportedly was a traditional dao, which was purchased in Guwahati. Raja and Sonam had told to their families that they would be going to the Kamakhya Temple located in Assam and would come soon. Raja’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, shared that the return tickets were never booked, and they do not know who decided on their trip to Meghalaya. It was also shocking to see Raj Kushwaha attending the last rites of Raja and standing next to Sonam’s grieving dad.
