The heinous murder of newly-married Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya has shocked the entire nation, especially after his wife, Sonam, was found to be the prime suspect. Now, the reactions about the cold-blooded crime are pouring in from Bollywood as well. In her latest social media post, actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut shared her outrage over the chilling case that involved Raja’s wife Sonam, her alleged lover, and two others plotting his murder.
Kangana Ranaut’s explosive reaction to Raja Raghuvanshi’s honeymoon murder
Kangana Ranaut is known for her unabashed opinions when it comes to speaking up on matters. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the actress strongly reacted to the cold-blooded murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, questioning the warped logic behind Sonam’s actions. Kangana shared that while Sonam couldn’t find the voice to oppose her marriage to Raja, the same woman somehow managed to plan the barbaric act with contract killers. Kangana’s post read:
“How absurd is this!! Woman can’t say no to marriage because she is scared of her own parents, but she can plan a cold-blooded murder with supari killers. This has been on my mind since morning, but not able to wrap my head around it!!! Uuffff getting a headache now!! She couldn’t even divorce or run away with her lover.”
Kangana did not hold back in criticising Sonam further, calling her ‘dumb’ and a danger to society. The Emergency actress warned against the uncertainties of such people as, contrary to intelligent ones, the dumb ones have no idea about their actions or their consequences. The actress wrote:
“How cruel, heinous and above all absurd and dumb. Dumb people should never be taken lightly. They are the biggest threat to any society… We often laugh at them and think they are harmless, but it’s not true. Intelligent people may damage others for their own good, but remember a dumb person has no idea what they are doing !!! Be aware very aware of dumbness around you.”
The chilling murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi that shocked the nation
Raja Raghuvanshi, a 29-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh, went missing along with his wife Sonam during their honeymoon trip to Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills on May 23, 2025. After an intense search operation, Raja’s body was discovered on June 2, 2025, in a gorge near the Weisawdong waterfalls. Investigations later revealed that Sonam, along with her lover and three hired killers, plotted the brutal murder.
Sonam was missing from the scene, and after a relentless search, she was found and arrested from a dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. She reportedly surrendered herself at a local police station after being on the run for 17 days. Even though she initially confessed to plotting the murder, Sonam later claimed innocence, alleging she was abducted and had no involvement in the crime. However, after seeing her boyfriend on the video call, she broke down and confessed to the murder again.

Meanwhile, Raja Raghuvanshi’s sister recently shared a video from his funeral, which showed Sonam’s alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, consoling Sonam’s father as Raja’s body arrived. In her statement to the police, Raja’s mother revealed that several unfamiliar faces were present at the funeral, and she had never seen or even heard of Raj Kushwaha until his name surfaced in connection with the murder case.
