Glen Powell’s ex, Gigi Paris, finally broke her silence on the speculation over his relationship with Sydney Sweeney.
Glen and Gigi began dating in 2020, but breakup rumors hit as he and Sydney were promoting Anyone But You. The actors have since claimed that they would “lean” into rumors that they were having an affair for PR purposes, though Glen later said of the split, “Well, look, the only reason it made things harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour.”
In a new interview, Gigi explained on the Too Much podcast how she and and her former partner (she doesn’t mention Glen by name) began dating before his rapid ascent in the public eye. Then, the model noticed one day that she was being tagged about the caption of one of his photos. She said she told him, “‘Hey, the whole world is watching what you’re saying, please just proceed with caution.’ And that wasn’t received well. From there, there was a steady decline.”
“It was just, ‘this is what I have to do for my job.’ I had two options. I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, ‘Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she okay with this? What the fuck’ Or stand up for myself and say, ‘No, I’m actually not okay with this, and I’m walking away.’ So that’s what I decided to do,” she explained. “I was shattered.”
Gigi further said she was “completely blindsided” by the speculation surrounding Sydney and Glen. She said, “I just wanted respect, especially if it’s gonna be public. Like, don’t make an ass out of me. Like, just don’t make a fool out of someone you’ve been with for over three years, talking about forever with. Just have some decency,” she continued. “And at the end of the day, it was like, ‘Well, work comes first.’ And if that’s the case, power to you, that’s your priority. I gotta walk away. What sucked was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs.”
“The bare minimum of any relationship is to have your partner’s back. Where are you when you just need to stand up and say, ‘No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend. I wouldn’t do that.’ That’s all that needed to be said,” she continued.
“I don’t know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship,” she said, claiming that she doesn’t know if any affair actually took place. “I honestly hoped that they’d end up together. At least it would make it worth it for me.”
According to Gigi, their “bleak” breakup happened when, after facing visa issues, she was finally able to go to Australia to be alongside him. “He called and said, ‘The producers and I have discussed that I think it’s best that you don’t come to visit,” she explained, before a redacted section. “And that’s when I hung up and I was like, ‘This motherfucker is done to me.'”
“I think that’s where I just also fell out of love. I was like, ‘Where the fuck are your balls to stand up for your woman?” she said. “I went anyways just to look him in the eye and break up with him. But then I was stuck there for two weeks doing my jobs — and there was a rule, like, I was not allowed near set. I was not allowed anywhere near production. It was very bizarre.”
