Renuka Shahane reveals she was told to lose weight a day after giving birth to her son
Renuka Shahane recently sat down for a conversation with Gauahar Khan on her podcast show, MaaNoranjan. Amid the conversation, the actress shared that she tied the knot with her husband, Ashutosh Rana, at the age of 35 in 2001. The next year, they welcomed their first son. She expected that things would go smoothly during her pregnancy and delivery which wasn’t the case. So, she was dealing with a lot of things when her husband’s friend, who was a doctor, and his wife came to visit her after her delivery. However, their words left her shocked. Sharing what they expected from her, Renuka said:
“My first child was born in 2002. Despite all my hopes, it wasn’t easy. Many things go unspoken. When the doctor and his wife visited me in the hospital, his very first words were, ‘Now you must lose weight.’ It felt so strange.”
The Hum Aapke Hain Kaon actress, who was left in shock by the expectation, dealt with multiple emotions at once. She was confused, overwhelmed, and stunned by the unexpected demand. Gradually, Renuka understood how society has an unfair demand from a mother to be at par in managing her child. At the same time, she should instantly heal after her delivery process and physically get normal like nothing ever happened.
Renuka Shahane reveals she tied the knot with Ashutosh Rana to embrace motherhood
Renuka Shahane had already dealt with the pain of a broken marriage when she decided to marry Ashutosh Rana. Although the duo were dating for three years, the actor proposed to her on his spiritual guru’s advice. On the flip side, Renuka wanted to have a family and embrace motherhood. At the same time, she believed that Ausutosh, who is a simple family oriented person, would be an ideal father to her kids. For all these reasons, she said “yes”. The couple are parents to two sons, Shauryaman and Satyendra.
