Raja Raghuvanshi’s dream of happily ever after turned tragic after his new bride, Sonam Raghuvanshi, reportedly killed him during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Police sources claim that it was Sonam, who is the prime accused in the murder, along with four others. The tragic murder case took another shocking turn after the deceased Raja’s sister, who is an influencer, took to social media and turned the tragedy into content for a few likes and followers.
Raja Raghuvanshi’s sister, Shrashti Raghuvanshi, turned her brother’s death into social media content
On an Instagram page, Shrasti Raghuwanshi, who claims to be Raja’s brother, has been sharing wedding videos with emotional shayaris to give updates about the murder case. In one of the reels, the girl, who was dressed up in a black-hued suit, shared a video of her brother’s saat pheras rituals with Sonam. In the front, she was seen expressing her emotions as she said:
“Mere bhai ne Sonam Raghuvanshi ke saath saat phero ke saath saat janam ka wada kiya tha or aaj vo saat din nahi rahe payi uske saath. Aisa kya kiya tha mere bhai ne jo usko maar dala. Agar tereko nahi pusund tha mera bhai koi or pusund tha toh bhaag jaati, mara kyo usko. Kisi ka bhai kisi ka beta.”
Since the couple’s mysterious disappearance, Raja’s sister has been making several appeals on social media to help know about her brother’s whereabouts. It was on June 2, 2025, Meghalaya police confirmed that Raja’s body was found in a gorge, and launched a murder investigation.
While the sister’s efforts could be pure, they are gaining a lot of traction, and people are wondering how a sister can turn the tragedy into content. Internet users slammed her. One user pointed out how the woman was turning into a content series with promotion in between, “It’s painful to see this. Your brother’s loss was tragic, but turning it into a content series with spa promotions in between… really makes one question what’s real and what’s performative.”
Another user penned, “Beech tregedy mein promotional videos bhi dal diye.. or esi videos me bhi editing chal rahi hai. Waaahhh re social media.” A third user wrote, “Sister I am ashamed to say you are his sister ….I have been watching your reel since your brother was missing ….and tum bas apne fayde k liye apne bhai ki maut ka bhi use krri ho.” A fourth user commented, “Instagram has dehuminised the people.. specially women.. is behen se zyada to mere Ghar walon ko bura lag raha hai.”

The post-wedding celebration at Raja’s home turned into tears and howls after the couple went missing in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills on May 23, 2025. They were on their honeymoon, later, a man’s body was recovered from a gorge on June 2, 2025. However, his wife wasn’t found then. The reports claim that the couple was last seen by the tourist guide in Mawlakhiat. They were accompanied with three men at around 10 a.m. They were heading towards a 3,000-step route to Nogriat, which is a tourist spot. The guide offered to take them, but they refused and hired another guide on the same day, they went missing.
