Sonam Raghuvanshi married Indore-based Raja Raghuvanshi on May 11, 2025. The couple then went for a planned honeymoon by Sonam Raghuvanshi, and then the murder of Raja was planned by Sonam and her lover, Raj Kushwaha, with whom she allegedly had an affair. Later, Sonam had surrendered to the UP Police at Gazipur when the three killers were arrested. Now, in a shocking turn of events, it was revealed that Sonam continuously shared the location of Raja with her boyfriend and the killers.

Amit Singh, who is the Additional Commissioner of Police in Indore, shared shocking details related to the Raja Raghuvanshi case. He shared that it was on May 16, just five days after her marriage, that she planned to kill Raja with her help of her lover, Raj. Singh then shared that Raj was in Indore when the murder took place and coordinated with the accused- Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi and Vicky Thakur, who followed the pair in Shillong. Sonam, on the other side, continuously shared their GPS location with the three killers on the trip.
Sonam’s search in Meghalaya was happening for two weeks, and it was in the morning of June 9, 2025, that she was arrested after she surrendered. Soon, when Raja’s family was informed of Sonam’s involvement in the murder, his family and other community members burnt and tore her pictures outside their home in Indore.

Sonam reportedly went missing from Shillong with Raja and had called her brother, Govind, at 2 a.m. via a video call to inform about her location. Rajesh Dandotiya, the additional deputy police commissioner of Indore, revealed that Sonam and Raj, her bf, had made a plan to kill her husband so that they could stay together. Raj then took the help of Vishal Chauhan a.k.a Vikki, along with Anand Kurmi and Akash Thakur, who were hired to kill Raja. The police officer noted:
“The plan was to kill Raja in a distant place, dump his body somewhere where it would not be found and then live happily.”
Sonam had told her husband that they could go to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 19, 2025 and then, after a day, leave for the same. Both of them went missing when they were vacationing at the Sohra area located in the East Khasi Hills district on May 23, 2025. Raja’s body was then found in a deep gorge on June 2, 2025.
How Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha’s plan went flop
Sonam and Raj fell into the trap when the Meghalaya cops discovered a machete which was used to murder Raja. An investigating officer from the region shared that it was not a machete used in the region. It led to their suspicion that someone from outside the region was involved. According to the cops, Sonam was traced in the Ghazipur area of Uttar Pradesh, and a Meghalaya Police team had come to Indore and got Raj and Vishal arrested. The officer shared:
“We decided to check the call details of the couple. We found she had spoken to one of the killers a few days before the murder and his last location was with her before they disappeared.”
