It was on May 23, 2025, when the entire media was filled with the news about an Indore couple going missing while honeymooning in Meghalaya. The couple, Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi, set out for a trip on May 16, 2025, and on May 22, 2025, they went to watch waterfalls. After the same, there had been no traces of the couple, which led the homestay owner to lodge a missing FIR. Later, Raja’s dead body was found inside of a gorge, and three assailants, along with Sonam were arrested. Sonam, as per the officials, surrendered, committing the crime of plotting her husband’s murder. Now, the deceased’s brother revealed some dark secrets about Sonam.

As per several reports, Sonam Raghuvanshi was having an affair with a person named, Raj Kushwaha. Later, Raja Raghuvanshi’s brother revealed the entire scene and questioned Raj’s involvement in the conspiracy behind his brother’s murder. As per News18, Raja’s brother revealed that Sonam and Raj used to talk on the phone continuously. Apparently, Raj Kushwaha and Sonam had been linked, and he used to work in her office, as per the deceased’s brother. Raja’s brother, Vipin, revealed that the name of Raj Kushwaha, appearing in this case, proves that the investigation might be going in the right direction, and if the latter is involved in this conspiracy, then possibly Sonam is also a part of the same. Raja’s brother, Vipin said:
“If Raj Kushwaha is involved in the murder, then Sonam can also be involved. Raj Kushwaha works in Sonam’s office. Sonam has a business of Sunmaika. The marriage happened happily for both the families. Now that Raj Kushwaha’s name has come out, I am convinced that the Meghalaya government is not lying in this. The murderer should get the same severe punishment as my brother was given.”

Raja Raghuvanshi’s brother, Vipin also added that the wedding of the deceased and Sonam was fixed by their families, and everyone was happy. According to him, the family members had no idea about the couple going to Meghalaya, so they set out of the home and said that they were going to offer prayers in Kamakhya temple. Later, Raja called his family to inform them that he and Sonam were heading to Meghalaya, and they had no return tickets either. Vipin went on to reveal that he got a call from a person named Govinda, who informed him to have come across Sonam. The caller revealed that Sonam introduced herself as Bitti, but as soon as the evidence was found, Raja’s family informed police that she was hiding in a forest, following which the officials spotted and arrested her.
How did police find Raja Raghuvanshi’s dead body and the assailants?
After the missing complaint was filed by the homestay owner, police launched an investigation. A local guide has revealed that he had seen Sonam and Raja with three other people as they were climbing 3000 steps from Nongriat to Mawlakhiat. After investigation, Raja’s body was found inside a deep gorge in the Weisawdong Parking Lot at Riat Arliang. Police continued with their investigation, and on June 9, 2025, three assailants were caught after an overnight raid. Two of them were found in Indore, and the other one was detained from UP.
Talking about Sonam, she reportedly was spotted in a local dhaba of Ghazipur in an unconscious state. Police said that after she received the medical treatment in a local hospital, she surrendered to the police about plotting her husband’s demise. The three assailants also confirmed that it was Sonam, who hired them to kill Raja.
