Govind Raghuvanshi, brother of Indore woman, Sonam Raghuvanshi, has given an audio message in support of his sister. His statement comes after Sonam’s husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, was found murdered and Sonam herself remains the prime suspect. Govind has come in support of his sister, saying that Sonam is innocent and Govind has left the final decision to the government.
Govind Raghuvanshi’s audio statement
Recently, a clip of Govind’s audio statement surfaced on Instagram. In it, he firmly said that all accusations against Sonam, who has been named a prime suspect in her husband’s murder, are ‘completely false’. In his audio, he claimed that he was at the Shillong airport and was leaving to meet his sister at Gorakhpur. He said that Sonam had called him at 1:30 at night and he had told her to go to a local police station and was now, on the way to meet her. He said:
“Main airport pe hu, main ye bolna chahta hu ki Sonam ka mujhe call aaya tha raat ko 1:30 baje, usko aas pass ka local thana hai, unki custody mein de diya tha aur baad mein meri baat ho gayi thi local thana se aur wo 3 baje tak thana pahuch gaye hai. Main yaha se nikal gaya hu Shillong se aur main 12:30 tak Gorakhpur pahuchunga aur waha se main by car niklunga jaha bhi Sonam hai us thane ke liye. Maine hi Sonam ko custody mein diya hai. Jo bhi hai faisla sarkaar karegi.”
The Meghalaya honeymoon incident
Newlywed, Raja Raghuvanshi was found murdered during a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya, making a national headline. His wife, Sonam, later surrendered in Uttar Pradesh and is now, among four arrested for allegedly plotting his murder with hired killers. Raja’s body was found near Wei Sawdong Falls, with evidence suggesting foul play.
Sonam’s family claims she is innocent and was possibly forced, while police suspect a romantic motive involving another man. Sonam reportedly booked the trip, made Raja wear heavy jewellery, and may have planned the murder in advance. Sonam’s family, including her father, mother and brother have come up in support of Sonam and asked for a CBI probe. Raja’s brother is also demanding an CBI inquiry in this incident.
Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raja Raghuvanshi’s marriage
Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi got married on May 11, 2025, in a traditional ceremony in Indore. A video from the wedding is now going viral, which shows Sonam in a red Banarasi saree, sitting expressionless as Raja who is dressed in a white sherwani is joyfully applying sindoor. While Raja appeared genuinely happy, Sonam’s blank face raised questions after her arrest for his murder. Many online users pointed out how she looked emotionally detached even on her wedding day.
