It was on January 21, 2014, when Bollywood actress, Sameera Reddy got married to Akshai Varde in a traditional Maharashtrian wedding. Back in those days, there were a lot of rumours doing the rounds that Indian liquor baron, Vijay Mallya, also known as the ‘King Of Good Times’ was the uncle of the South Indian actress. When one hears the name of Vijay Mallya, all that one can think of is his lavish lifestyle, his now defunct Kingfisher Airlines, all the calendar models and the uber luxurious life he had. However, do you know that Vijay Mallya, according to an ABP Live report, had done the kanyadaan of Sameera Reddy? Mallya is not directly related to Sameera, but the report mentioned that he had a close bond with Sameera. The actress had worn a Neeta Lulla bridal attire for her wedding, and it was Vijay Mallya who did her kanyadaan ceremony.
The report further mentioned that the actress had spoken in the media that Vijay Mallya, who was present at her wedding, had done her kanyadaan ritual. Vijay was not blood related uncle to the actress but had reportedly walked down the aisle with her.
How did Sameera Reddy meet Akshai Varde?
The actress once in an interview with the Free Press Journal, shared that her and Akshai’s love story had started off on the wrong note. She revealed being a tad starry. However, after that sparks flew between both of them and Akshai, Sameera fell in love with one another. She revealed meeting Akshai when she was promoting her movie, Tezz. Sameera had to ride a motorcycle for one of the PR events. She felt lucky, as Akshai who was the owner of her company, had come for the event. Sameera quipped:
“It was my lucky day because the owner of the company Akshai Varde, came too. It was love at first sight for me. I was besotted and I almost dropped the bike while riding it. He seemed to be more worried about the bike than me. Funny that he didn’t even consider dating me or look at me in that way. I had to make all the first moves and yes I asked him for his number first!”

The actress then revealed in the interview that when she and Akshai went for their first date, she chose to be reserved and aware due to the earlier disaster she had created. He was someone who had never dated a famous person and told the actress that she was a nice person, but it was not her cup of tea. Sameera then shared:
“I finally revealed my true self to him. I came home and searched about him online because he looked really young. I found out that he is younger than me by two years. I was desperate for him to call me and ask me out, but I had to wait. He took his own sweet time.”
It was in 2002 when Sameera Reddy made her Bollywood debut with the movie, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, next to Sohail Khan. Sanjay Dutt was also in the movie. She was then seen in Musafir, Taxi Number 9211, Race, De Dana Dan and Tezz.
