Shahid Afridi got married to Nadia Afridi back in 2000. The couple has five daughters, Aqsa, Ansha, Ajwa, Asmara, and Arwa. Talking about Shahid Afridi’s marriage to Nadia, which was a traditional arranged marriage, fixed by Shahid’s father. Sharing details about the same, Shahid once mentioned that he got married after his father took his joke seriously. Yes! Afridi began his career at the age of 19 only, and there was a time, when he was leaving his home for a match, and jokingly asked his father to find him a suitable bride. He had no idea that his father would take this joke seriously. Well, Afridi’s father found his best match in the latter’s maternal cousin, Nadia Afridi, who was only 16 back then.
Shahid Afridi shared his reaction when his father fixed his marriage with his maternal cousin
When Shahid Afridi returned from his tournament, his father told him that he had found the perfect bride for him. While he was excited for the same, he later got to know that the girl, his father fixed for him to get married to was none other than his maternal cousin, Nadia Afridi. He once shared his reaction to the same, and mentioned:
“I was like… what? But I agreed anyway.”

Shahid Afridi and Nadia Afridi have known each other since childhood, but the former cricketer first time saw her in person on their wedding day. In his book, Game Changer, Shahid Afridi shared that when he first time saw Nadia’s photo, he didn’t like her as she had a lot of makeup on. Well, when he met her in person, wherein she was without makeup, he felt okay. In Shahid Afridi’s words:
“When I first saw the picture of Nadia, I didn’t like her, she had too much makeup on. But when I saw her without makeup, I was okay.”

Talking about their BFF-like bond, Shahid also once shared that he had forgotten their anniversary, but Nadia forgave him.
Shahid then expressed his gratitude for marrying a ‘simple girl’. He also humorously added that his wife is his backup, as she sees everything while mentioning that she has access to his Apple IDs. On an emotional note, Shahid once also revealed that Nadia never complains or argues, and it’s because of her that he’s what he is today. In Shahid’s words:
“She never complains, never argues, she’s the reason I’m able to be who I am.”
