Sana Makbul is one of the most popular actresses in the Hindi Television industry. The actress has emerged as the winner of Bigg Boss OTT 3. Recently, the actress revealed that she had been battling autoimmune liver disease for some time now. However, after the Eid celebration on May 7, 2025, health took a toll on the actress, for which she has been hospitalised. Sana’s close friend has now shared the disheartening news.
Sana Makbul’s close friend shares that the actress has been hospitalised
Multiple reports stated that Sana’s health had not been going well for some time now. Now, Sana’s close friend, Dr Aashna Kanchwala, shared a picture of the actress from the hospital bed. In the picture, Sana looked pale and frail. Although, the exact reason behind getting hospitalised is not made public, Aashna prayed for Sana’s speedy recovery. Taking to her Instagram Stories, she wrote:
“My strongest Diva I’m so proud of you for showing so much strength and resilience as you battle such a grave condition. Inshallah, you will fight this and come out even stronger… Allah is with you. And I am always standing by you Get well soon my love @divasana.”
Sana Makbul earlier talked about her health scare
In March 2025, Sana appeared in a podcast show hosted by popular TV couple, Bharti Singh and her husband, Harsh Limbachiyaa. In the podcast, Sana talked about her fluctuating health condition. She shared that the autoimmune liver disease with which she has been fighting since 2020 is similar to Telugu star, Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The actress also shared that she has shifted to vegan food due to her health problems. In her words:
“I have turned vegan recently due to health reasons. A lot of people don’t know that I am an autoimmune hepatitis patient. I have a liver disease, it was diagnosed in 2020. It has no specific symptoms. In this, my body cells are attacking the organ. So in my case, it’s sometimes lupus; it hits your kidneys or causes arthritis. Samantha Ruth Prabhu has myositis, which is a muscle condition. I have it with the liver.”
In the same podcast, Sana also shared how difficult it is for her to manage her health problems as it fluctuates now and then. Sana mentioned that she has to take steroids and medicines to keep going. The actress also wonders whether she will be getting cured of the health scare. In her words:
“I take steroids, suppressants, or some medicines. It’s a lifestyle disorder, but with the autoimmune condition, the liver condition is a tricky thing. My health keeps fluctuating, I don’t know if this can be cured completely.”

Sana Makbul Khan, professionally known as Sana Makbul, was born on June 13, 1993, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Sana completed her schooling at Mumbai Public School. She then pursued her graduation from R. D. National College in Mumbai, Maharashtra. After graduating, Sana developed an interest in modelling and acting. Before becoming an actress, Sana started her career in modelling.
